After years of using Hubzilla, I have discovered something new. The nofederation plugin is intended for the scenario that one would want to use Hubzilla like a traditional blog. Once it is activated, it becomes possible to choose not to federate posts that are public. Such posts will end up on one's Channel page like blog posts, but will not be sent out to friends and followers. Other posts that are sent to the friends group, or custom privacy groups, are sent out in the usual way: the no federation button does not appear.
Previously, for a time, I used the Articles addon for blogging, since Articles are not posted to friends in any case. But it makes better sense, I think, that blog posts will appear there on the channel page.
I like the idea of consolidating my use of the web, rather than my recent tendency to place photos in one place, blog posts in another, and social media posts somewhere else. I think I will go back to simplifying things.

Starbucks develops climate change resistant coffee seeds“Starbucks is committed to ensuring the future of coffee,” said a representative of the company in an email. “We have a responsibility to care for the entire supply chain and the many people who make coffee possible, from bean to cup, farmer to customer.”
The company is giving away its six climate-resilient coffee tree varieties to farmers who are free to sell the resulting crop to buyers other than Starbucks. The coffee giant buys from about 400,000 farmers across 30 countries, and over the last five years, it has given away three million climate-resistant seeds annually, developed by others to farms in Costa Rica, Honduras, Peru, Mexico, China, Indonesia, Guatemala and Nicaragua.
