Before I started playing taiko around 20 years ago, I had already gained experience with other percussion instruments (djembe, conga, balafon, surdo etc.). Through this and my teacher of many years, Sibylle Raths, I learnt how to combine Japanese and Korean drum music with other influences. What I particularly like about Taiko is the combination of rhythm and movement and playing together in a music group. I teach Wadaiko at Goraiko and tr'ensemble.
