
I've been playing around with static image galleries using Hubzilla's cloud.
Here's one that I made, using CSS and very simple javascript:

To create the gallery, I uploaded the html file, css stylesheet file and javascript file to hubzilla's file storage. In SeaMonkey composer, I opened the html file in WebDav, and renamed it, in order to preserve the original html file as a template for future use. Then I added the photos that were already in Hubzilla's file storage, giving each an alt text and a title. In the template used, the titles appear as tooltips.
Hubzilla already has photo albums built in of course. Here is the one from which this gallery was created:
