I tried again to install Hubzilla via the basic YunoHost setup, as I noticed that the Hubzilla version there was updated to 11.4, but the same behaviour as in my last attempts, a few months ago, repeated itself: Under a new domain name and subdomain (hub.vikshepa.net), I chose to clone a channel from a working installation. The system reports that it has properly cloned itself. Indeed everything in the channel profile looks fine. The connections are there. The channel locations are seen. However, from those other Hubzilla servers, the new instance is not seen. And nothing at all imports. Well actually, just two posts did import, which adds to the mystery: One of these is a post by @Der Pepe (Hubzilla) ⁂ and the other is from @Utsukta Themes and that itself could provide a clue, as maybe the Solidified theme acts a little differently.
One thing to note is that the import of previous channel posts stalls from the very beginning. There is actually an addon that an admin can install called Channel Import, which is not enabled by default in the basic YunoHost installation, but adding that and trying again changes nothing. I think the basic problem may be that the other servers do not "see" the new clone in the first place.
Well, at the very least, since another person has reported here the same behaviour regarding the basic YunoHost installation, this might need to be mentioned at
https://hubzilla.org/page/info/admin_guide, particularly since it is unclear whether subsequent attempts would work at all, once a subdomain / domain / channel name have been already used / "burned".
There is a full description on how to install Hubzilla on YunoHost as a custom app at
https://info.hubzilla.hu/en/hzyunohost.htmlI may try that next, though, in my experience, installation instructions are hard to write, hard to follow, and it is hard to meet every exigency.
