beona 버나 is a wide and flat sieve frame containing leather in the inner part. The sieve wheel has a diameter of 30 to 35 cm and a thickness of 3 to 4 cm, and several layers of cloth are applied on both sides. The leather is cut and attached in a round shape in the middle.
Performers spin and toss the beona into the air by using a long tobacco pipe or a long wooden stick while exchanging witty talks with a clown called maehossi.
To play with a beona is the second skill of Namsadangpae.
Instruments used for accompaniment include kkwaenggwari, jing, buk, janggu, and taepyeongso.
beona spinning is similar to the Chinese plate spinning. There is a difference in that there are jokes made along and that the plates are thrown and sticks are exchanged between the performers.
